What is the topic and what do I have to know?

The topic that we will be debating this year at TriMUN is Human Trafficking.

Human trafficking is a pervasive issue with far-reaching consequences that extend beyond national borders, making it highly relevant on a worldwide scale. The unlawful trade and exploitation of humans fuels transnational crime networks, fostering a complex web of criminal activities, manipulation, and violence. The global nature of human trafficking intertwines economies, politics, and security, impacting both developed and developing nations. Its implications are evident in the destabilization of governments and societies, the exacerbation of social disparities, and the undermining of law enforcement efforts. Furthermore, human trafficking contributes to the emergence of natural rights challenges, as humans are exploited, affecting diverse communities and straining international efforts to address the eradication of basic human rights, corruption of families, and related mental health issues. Given these multifaceted repercussions, the fight against human trafficking necessitates international cooperation, emphasizing the interconnectedness of nations in combating this pervasive threat.

A number of individuals from each team will be assigned different countries. Normally, for an MUN conference, delegates (the attendees) have to do their own research and write a position paper. To make this experience as beginner friendly as possible we have built in time so that the groups of delegates can research their countries' positions and topic on the day of the training MUN to guide them through this process.
